Flyfisher's Sign-off Summary
Posted by Flyfisher on October 09, 1997 at 00:14:49:
To All CWM’ers
The ship ain’t sinking but this rat is bailing. All things come to and end and so does Flyfisher. Flyfisher served a useful purpose for me as an anonymous handle in my shadow life as a Cyberwhoremonger. My shadow life, at times, overtook my real life. Friends like Bashful, Doc, SDBeav, Buffy, Katherine and Tamara Lynn have known for some time that I’ve been contemplating leaving my shadow life. I’ve enjoyed many aspects of this cyber life, but it is my real world life that holds the most meaning for me. It is simply time to move on, be Gary again, on a full time basis. I’ll leave my email address for my CWM friends who wish to stay in contact with me. My life is about many, many things. I love to write, I really am a world class fly fishing enthusiast. I’m a home repair nut---and my house needs more fixing up. I am also a guitarist with over thirty years experience. I live for adventure travel…and I know how to have a great time in Nevada. I care for an ailing parent, support several people and have a great variety of friends from all walks of life. Being Flyfisher, though, I stepped away from being me for a short time. It has been an interesting foray. I’ve been procrastinating on this decision for some time. Now seemed as good a time as any to bid my adieus to this cyber community. I’ve enjoyed it. If you ever walk into a brothel and you hear some guy talking about fly fishing, drinking either a Scotch on the rocks or sipping a Miller Genuine Draft---say hello, undoubtedly it’ll be me. My heart always skips a beat when I think of Tamara Lynn (often). Katherine Leigh shares that same piece of stratosphere with Tam. Valerie is a great, great friend. Alexis is just a sweetheart. Mardie really is another name for Love. Bashful has been a wonderful guide and sometimes mentor and conscience. Doc is Doc, my best friend and the epitome of CWM for me. DonM is the ultimate archivist and pack rat for CWM. SD Beav was my unwitting role model the first day I walked into Sagebrush #1. Unclebob---you remember what I wrote you, dammit! Omerta is the one and only King of the Threads. Arctic Bear is always something. Bree---most sensuous and focused lady I’ve met in her vocation. Tessa is mousey cute and a party waiting to happen for me. Buffy is a diamond in transition. Flyrod is the fly fishing/brothel hopping soul brother I’ve never met but will. Oops, I almost forgot that Texas barrister, Counsel. And then that old dog—Spock. Pat: you write from the heart and with imagination---just need a little editing, but you provide excellent content. XXX: are you shaving yet? You're gonna be the hell on wheels CWM'er of all time ten years from now. Chisel, the jury is still out on you. If we didn’t have you for our bad boy, we’d have to create one. Your always coming from different places. You have as much business in this cyber life as I do. I just made more friends, that’s all. Then there’s the gang at IRC and IRC this Sunday night will be Flyfisher’s last ride. I’ll hang out with the gang one last time---I’m not closing the door on CWM2, though. I save the last for GP. I loved this page, the board and all the time spent on it. I know we disagreed about Buffy in the last few days---still do. My leaving isn’t about that. It’s about me and moving on. You and Bash provide one hell of a service. Thanks for giving me a place to hang out when I needed it. I’ve made memories and shared experiences I wouldn’t have dared dream this time last year. It’s been a trip! Thanks. Treat each other well, kindly and follow the Golden Rule. I need a good fishing trip…and I need to see Tamara…soon enough. Regards, Gary/Flyfisher gmworth@ix.netcom.com

Flyfisher,
I wish you well upon you new journey. Well all will miss you but I hope you may feel able to drop in on occasion. You were one of the first of the CWM's to give me advise and assistance upon coming out from lurking. I regret not having met you although the I'm told the flyfishing her in Alaska is excellent. Good luck with all that you do and know that you will always have the friends you have made here. We'll, I'll miss you my friend. An as a final tribute. An exit without adjective.

Gary/Flyfisher;
I have only known about this site for a couple of months and only wish I had found it a month or so earlier so I could have met everyone at CWM1. I feel I have gotten to know a lot about everyone from their posts. You, Doc, Omerta, and Buffy will be greatly missed online and I still hope to meet you one day. I will look forward to talking to you on IRC sunday and hope everyone who has met here in cyberspace can meet in the real world next summer (myself included). This group has gotten so large that if everyone who has posted showed up at one of the brothels it would look like an invasion. Even though you have to devote more attention to the other aspects of your life, maybe flyfisher could make and occasional appearance to brighten our lives. Good Luck!

You've been an inspiration to many people - through your posts, your field reports (which are immortal treasures), and to me, through the e-mails I've had the pleasure to receive from time to time.
You take care, man, and attach a pic of your next rainbow trout to an e-mail for me.

Dear Mr. Flyfisher,
No words said here can adequately express my profound sorrow in hearing of your plans in departing from this board.
I must say for the record, I am very much taken aback here by such a startling revelation on your part. It is for sure, a very sad and depressing moment; not just for me personally, but for the many CWM'S out there that have valued greatly your ever witty advice and uniquely talented, style of writing.
Many people, including yours truly, have grown immensely by your helpful words of wisdom and your timely, helpful, and well thought out, advice.
I fully understand you motivation in getting back to the so-called "real world". As a matter a fact, I plan a similar "escape from the Nexus" in the not too distant future. However, in the interim, I plan to stay and enjoy the uniqueness of this board, the many varied opinions expressed here, and in the further reinforcing of new found friendships that I have had the privilege of establishing; especially that of Bashful; whom I regard in the highest of esteem.
Again, my dear Flyfisher, I'm very, very sad to see you wander off like this. But life does have it's interesting twists and turns, doesn't it???.......Is't that what makes it that much more challenging and meaningful??? To forever wander down new inroads of insight and love........
Well, enough said here my friend.
I wish you all the good luck in the world and I shall be E-mailing you shortly here; for I have much more to say regarding this matter......
Best regards,
Unclebob

Hey Fly, you should try some yellowfin tuna down in Cabo. 100 lb whoppers, sun, blue water, tequila and Cuban cigars every day. Puts hair on your chest.
Just because you want to pursue other things doesn't mean you can't stop by once in a while.
Good Luck,
Bohemian

End of an Era
Posted by ArcticBear on October 09, 1997 at 00:46:37: Even in the cyber-world there is a sad event called the end of an era. I think we've seen that tonight. The departure of Omerta, Doc and now Flyfisher is truely saddening. GP is right to acknowledge them (I am making the asumption that the estemed Flyfisher will be indoctrinated at some point by GP). The board will go on but tonight must be marked as one of the saddest in the history of CyberWhoreMongering. I find it hard to be a jovial bear in light of this so I think I'll just say goodnight leaving the appropriate respect for those leaving us. Good-bye Doc, Omerta and Fly. You are truely orginals.
A Majorly Depressed ArcticBear

To a wise Bear,
Last night was like CWM[Cyber Whore Mongeres] CIVIL WAR!!!!!Brother against brother.Last December I came across Basful site and read, listen and learned. It's just been lately I have chime in but I have high regard for Basful and was disappointed when he announced his site was vanishing in November. But like a reprieve from the Governer he and GP were becoming confederates.I had looked over GP's,Chielses, and Bashful's sites with Bashful's getting my attention so I really have no basic to comment on GP at this time. When I checked in to see the nights proceedings to my surprise a war had broken out with a casualtly, retirement and a distrustful soul. You fill in the blanks[who is who] but what ever side you take we are as a group much less off with out them and in my book they are pioneers in this endeavor. You need visionaries like Bashful and GP but with out the Indians what good is the Chiefs.Looking at the hittes the message board has taken the past month there will be others to fill their niche but with the flare they had it will be hard press to match. I really wanted to meet these men last summer but could not seem to pull it off.Hopefully next summer or another time we can have a drink or two and put a face to a name!!!!So long Doc[keep clear of the panic button],Omerta[no more great threads],and Flyfisher[love to fish and keep up with Buffy I belive she is a diamond in the ruff].As for the Bear you well now be more then above average Bear but a Infuential ArcticBear!!!!! 49er Will Will49er67@hotmail.com

What with GP considering me for a potential CWM Hall of Fame induction and and your kind comments, my head might swell if we marine mammals didn't have such small cranial cavities. We all have the power to shape our destinies. Just get in there and speak your mind.
