Note from Admin: It's now 23 years later. After our 1st year we ( includes all past and future posters ) were both proud and pleased that we were still around. Now 23 years later we can look back at this experiment and see how much it influenced LPIN and the Brothels. But! even more it gave a lot of posters a place to hang out. GP's and the part it played in encouraging others to join our little club or those that may not have joined us but started their own extension of of our little experiment have found a new community. Many found this place and the others that followed to be an important and daily part of their lives. I believe it also changed lives and friendships.
Their are a few of us left that were here from the very beginning. Several of the original members have moved on to other interest. Some actually married with both good and bad results. I know of at least 5 that resulted in marriage between mongers and working ladies. Some also left this earth to go to the happy hunting ground. We were not the Brothel Gods. We were just a bunch of ladies and guys that were both fun, helpful and sometimes both mean and nasty. Somehow we survived the good and the bad. CWMC became something that many looked forward to every year. Others that are newer to our various groups are curious about who and what we are. Some have joined and taken on major roles in the message boards and annual events or started their own events. Some think we are a bunch of hateful perverts. Others appreciate that their are message boards representing all sides of the issues dealing with LPIN. Some hate the Brothels and wish they would all be closed down. At the same time their are many that are thankful that their are places where one can go and be educated on some of the ins and outs of the Brothel thing.
Twenty years later I think we all owe GP and Bashful a big thank you. They had no idea what the future would hold. They took a chance and it turned into a 23 year amazing journey for me and I believe many others.

Posted by Georgia Powers on December 23, 1997 at 11:52:33:As 1997 comes to a close, I cannot help but think about all the changes that have taken place at the Georgia Powers Bordello Connection website. It has certainly been an event filled year.
The website reached its first anniversary in November which was around the same time that Bashful decided to "partially" retire to the writings of his soon to be forthcoming book. We have gone from a very limited website that in its original design was to highlight the smaller and less noticed houses in Nevada; unfortunately or fortunately, depending on how you look at it, that did not come to pass in its entirety.
As new users came online we grew from a small, very focused website to one that provides information on just about every house and lady in the state, including the ladies that have subsequently retired. We have tried many things over this past year, some worked and some did not; however, that is not to say that we have not been successful.
I can remember early on during a conversation with my faithful sidekick Bashful, discussing where this concept would lead us. I told him then that I did not think that this enterprise would become much more than a small focused, personal group with maybe a handful of readers in the end. I mean let's face it, nothing ever lasts forever and there will someone new that comes along with a better idea, a better method of presenting the information, and I may not be able to compete with that. I could not have more wrong in my life!
In July we saw the first of what will become many CyberWhoremonger meetings in Nevada, and although I wasn't able to make it I was impressed with the camaraderie and friendships that subsequently developed out of that small meeting. I believe that everyone is looking forward to this next year and the possibilities of the upcoming meeting are endless.
Around mid-year I began the message board out of my contempt for the usenet news groups; hoping to provide a method by which information could be exchanged without one having to wade through the endless sea of spam and useless comments. For those of you who remember those early days of sending by email your postings, my having to hard code them into HTML text and then posting them every couple of days; can see that we have come a LONG way since those early days.
The message board has gone farther and grown faster than my imagination ever considered. We have seen friendships forged through this medium as much as enemies drawing their lines in the sand. As with all new enterprises mistakes are made and I will certainly attest to the fact that I have made more than my fair share of them. My emotions have been a roller-coaster; one minute I cannot wait to jump on the net and surf through the thoughts and comments of those who have the inkling of commenting on legalized prostitution in Nevada to those moments where I wonder if any of the effort is worth it.
We have changed ISP's and what a learning experience that turned out to be. This year has seen the addition of the Georgia Powers Hall of Fame and the upcoming brothel awards. If I was start compiling a list of everyone who has made a significant contribution to the site I would surely forget someones name so I won't attempt that with the exception of BASHFUL. He has always been there; when times were tough he provided thoughtful insight and experience that was needed to the times where we could laugh and joke about where we have been and where we are going. Without him I can honestly say none of this would have been possible. Thank you Bashful for above all, always being the friend that you have.
I am looking forward to the new year both personally and professionally; but I also look forward and wonder where we'll be come this time next year.....?
Season greetings to everyone and in the coming new year I wish all the very best; may all your wishes, dreams and desires be yours!

Thanks for all the praise, but I'll add that working with you is very easy. Only rarely have I disagreed with you. You've given me full rein on the field reports, and allowed me to run the message board pretty much as I wanted before I decided to give it up (you're doing a good job, AB). Again, working with you, GP, is a pleasure.
As for my "soon to be forthcoming book", it isn't even written! It will take me about a year to write, and then God only knows how long to get published, if ever.
And now, before Doc gets ill from our sweet tributes to each other (I love you, Doc!), I'll just scamper off and mark up the unpublished field reports some more.
Be seeing you.

We've made some pretty good friends here. There are some folks that I'll be in contact with long after I've decided to quit the Nevada schene.
Someone asked if you can be friends with folks you've never met. Untill recently, I'd have said no. Just goes to prove how wrong you can be. There are some good folks here.
I think we've learned a lot about what most of us considered just another fun passtime. Thanks to the input of several of the ladies, we have seen a glimpse of life in their shoes. Hopefully that has made us all wiser in the long run.
We've had some interboard sqabbles. In any conflict, you end up learning a few things about yourself...both good and bad.
In closing, I've found this a very profitable learning experience.
I thank you all Treadhead

In Reply to: Year in review posted by Georgia Powers on December 23, 1997 at 11:52:33:GP your message board might have accomplished even more than you realize. Until I found your board I felt like a real deviant. I was ashamed of my brothel "career". Certainly I couldn't mention it to others - what might they think?
"Wow this guy is a real sicko! What a loser - can't get any unless he pays for it!" I felt very alone and very much a social outcast. Reading the message board, and after awhile posting, I found others (lots!) like me. Some very literate and obviously intelligent, some just full of a sense of life.
GP the board has been a real "head shrinking" experience for me. Pshyologically this message board, and the budding friendships I've made because of it, have done me a world of mental good!
GP THANK YOU! I owe you, Bashful, and others big time.

It is amazing what happens when little seeds begin to grow into saplings and then turn into strong oaks. This enterprize has been on such endeavor. We've seen hardships, friendships, flames, and folly Kinship, cocksmanship, mirth, and jolly Whatever next year may bring our way We'll remain a tight little community all the way So tip a glass in remeberance of this year for all who stay And remember always, every always, that GP PAYS!!!
On a serious note, it's has been my great pleasure to meet and interact will all of you for the last handful of months. Let know one ever say that this is not the classiest group of people on the internet.

What A Year It's Been, Thanks GP

In Reply to: Year in review posted by Georgia Powers on December 23, 1997 at 11:52:33:Dear GP,
Yes, this year has been an unprecedented one indeed. I still can't get over the fact that it has been BARELY a year since your website had actually began from it's most humble origins as a niche tributary of LPIN discussions amongst a small but dedicated group of CWM enthusiasts to a site that has grown far beyond its original intent; a website that has over these past 12 months, managed to amass in my honest opinion, one of the finest assemblages of individuals I have ever had the privilege of knowing and communicating with.
Yes, the apparent phenomenal growth of GP's website has in fact contributed to a significant extent an insight into not only the delicate intricacy of Legalized Prostitution in the state of Nevada, but it has also contributed mightily towards a greater understanding of the wants and needs of human beings; an obvious consequence of the myriad of ideas and concepts that have been discussed or debated about here.
Now because of such a wonderful gathering of ideas and intellectual talent, I personally, have grown in mind and spirit immensely. I have had the esteemed and rare privilege of actually participating in no less than 3 CWM type get togethers; the first being an almost transcendental experience at the main gathering last July. Pretty awesome stuff if you ask me. During these meetings I finally got to meet the great Bashful, the one man who virtually single handedly, pioneered the CWM website. [With a bit of inspiration from Blake Wilfong, another great pioneer] As it turned out, meeting Bashful at the OBR and later with everyone else had exceeded my wildest expectations. As a consequence, I found practically all of the participants a great and congenial lot to hang around and swap stories with.
Yes, the emergence of this board has unmistakenly become no less than an institution; as an instrument of not only conversing with your new found friends, but with some of the ex-ladys of the business in a way that up until a few months ago seemed unimaginable.
Yes GP, I salute you from the bottom of my heart for not only your bringing to us this ever so informative and entertaining website/message board, [At your expense no less] but I also salute you for your tireless and painstaking persistence in making this message board a viable alternative to that seemingly hopeless rabble once known as USENET. The making of our irrepressable, adjectival minded, and perennially lovable, ArcticBear as board moderator was a timely move to further facilitate and to maintain the high standards that you GP have always sought since the very beginning. You could not have picked a more capable person in ActicBear. He has earned my utmost respect in this matter and as a person.
In closing then, I just would like to say that I am a definitely a changed person as a consequence to this message board, and as an additional result, have gained an invaluable insight into not only my own innermost feelings, but also an important insight into the journey of life itself and how best to live that life to the fullest extent possible.
Sincerely,
Unclebob

What a year indeed! Made lots of friends, met many fine ladies, laughed, cried, got pissed off and got educated on this message board---damn, I found a cyber life, in addition to my already busy life. Gotta thank Bashful, too. Combining all talents of both boards, adding AB, and "the CWM family" coming together---WOW! Happy Holidays, best wishes! I mean it, dammit! Flyfisher
